After a shocking Championship Sunday last event where BDS were swept, and then perfect swept, to fall out of the event in 3rd, they looked hungry for redemption today, and amongst 3 rising teams, they were dominant.
BDS Dismantles Fighting EG
Despite being clearly one of EU’s best, BDS still had a lot to prove today, whereas EG were in desperate need of points to keep their LA major chance comfortably alive.
Although you can’t discredit EG‘s, and in particular Catalysm‘s, efforts to tie up the series early, the matchup quickly became the Monkey M00n show, who dominated both sides of the pitch as clear the best afield to prove why he’s seen by many as the best in the world, securing BDS a 4-1 victory against a solid, yet outclassed, EG lineup.
Queso Hold Their Nerve
In the face of seemingly certain defeat, the new boys on the block, Queso, exhibited maturity beyond their years. After a tight, defensive start to the series, where both lineups appeared tense and not wanting to concede, the series was tied 2-2.
But after Misfits steamrolled Queso with a Bra71l in game 5, the young prodigies were pushed back against the wall. Yet Queso found a way to respond, with Vatira forcing a game 7 with the overtime winner, before they found the series sealer after 3 minutes of overtime in the 7th, winning them a nail biting series and securing their spot at the LA major.
EG Fall In Heart Breaker
If you’re a Queso fan, today had to give you a few heart attacks, but if you’re an EG fan, your heart will have been left in tatters after this tight series loss.
Even though EG started the series with a bang, after Queso opened the flood gates to concede 6, Queso proved to be better under pressure, going 2/2 in over times before icing the series in 7, securing back to back grands appearances and harming EG’s major chances, in desperate need of points.
BDS Return To The Throne
Finally. It only took 5 regional events, but the Stockholm major champions, BDS, are finally European regional champions. Faced with the challenge of a rising Queso lineup, BDS were absolutely relentless.
Extra and Monkey M00n combined for 39 shots in just 4 games, and with Marc_By_8 consistently throwing in precise clears and supporting plays, Queso were completely outgunned. Despite Joyo’s best efforts on the goal line, Queso were no match for BDS, swept 4-0 in a devastating performance that served as a reminder that even if they may be the rising prince, BDS is still the king.
