After day 1 presented some of the biggest upsets in RLCS’ history, even with EU’s insane depth, day 2 saw some teams fighting for pride, others fighting for revenge, and all teams looking to score some crucial points in hope or qualifying for the LA major.

Guild Outlast Relentless 00 Nation Offence Neither team would’ve been expected to be in top 8, but here they are, and one would have the chance to fight for top 6 placements, and maybe even become a dark horse for the LA major.

After Guild took the first game, Hibbs turned up the pressure by another notch to find 6 goals in the next two, placing Guild just a game away from elimination.

Yet after facing so much adversity over the course of this season, Guild were perfectly placed to respond to the circumstances, putting the clamps on defence to steal the series away from 00 Nation, 3-2, and locking in a top 6 finish, despite only qualifying for 1/5 events for the season.

Dignitas Break Luminosity’s Heart

It seems that Luminosity really just can’t catch a break. In their 2 weeks of competition, they’ve had to come up against BDS and Dignitas twice each, despite going home in 9th-12th and 7th-8th.

In an incredibly tightly fought series, 4/5 went to overtime, and Luminosity certainly had their chances. In game 4, leading the series 2-1, Atomik made a bizarre and uncharacteristic error in defence, which gifted Joreuz a clean finish.

With the series now tied up, Dignitas were hungrier than ever for the win, with relentless offence pushing Luminosity constantly on the back foot in game 5, before Joreuz’s shot was able to ice it, breaking Luminosity’s heart and essentially ending their major chances.

EG With Crucial Sweep

In the fall split, both Misfits and EG had the opportunity to qualify for the Stockholm major, and both completely bottled it at the last hurdle. And after the pair were sent home in 9th-12th in the first event, securing a top 3 finish was critical to their LA major chances.

And with this chance for redemption, it was EG who rose above the Misfits, producing some pristine defence before a double demo play and pass from Catalysm gifted Ivn the goal and thou in game 3, staving off 20 shots from Misfits with the shutout and grabbing the 3-0 lead.

Their iciness continued in the 4th and final game, with a defensive miscommunication and strong 50s from Rizex setting up Catalysm’s finish, securing the sweep, top 3, and showing EU that they’re not a team to be forgotten about.

The Kings Reclaim Their Throne

In Regional Event 1, BDS were destroyed by not only top level Dignitas, but also by the new kids on the block, Queso, who swept them in the upper bracket finals before winning the whole thing.

With Monkey M00n now in better physical condition, and the team looking to quickly rebound, they were given their chance for redemption today, and managed to take full advantage of it. After some tight, nail biting early over times, BDS brought up a 2-1 lead, with Marc_By_8’s phenomenal finishing and Monkey M00n’s ice cold defence making it 3-1.

Upper bracket chances fading, Queso called a tactical before game 5, and it worked to precision, with Joyo finding the read and speed for the first, before a perfect pass from Rise set Joyo up for the second, keeping Queso alive. But not for much longer, as BDS immediately bounced back, with relentless pressure in overtime giving Monkey M00n the finish, securing the series 4-2, and granting BDS their much sought out revenge and top 3 finish.

Misfits Prevent Reverse Sweep

If you’re a Misfits fan, this series most likely gave you a heart attack. After strong team play and finishes from arju granted Misfits the 3-0 lead, Guild appeared to be all but finished.

But with their backs against the wall, Guild found another level to rise to. Noly’s in attack clinched them a dominant game 4, before a strange overcommit got crr the sealer in the 5th, before Deevo’s quick finish beat an unaware Kash in net, tying the series up 3-3.

However, with the series tied, and the reverse sweeps tied with failed reverse sweeps in history, 12-12, Misfits put their foot down and decided to be on the right side of the history. Guild just couldn’t stop Misfits’ offence, with Kash redeeming himself with an unbelievable double tap and drive by finish, sending Misfits to a much needed top 4 finish.

Queso Prove Their Worth Yet Again

For the 3rd time in 2 events, Dignitas have fallen to their bogey man; Team Queso. Although their defence and a world class ceiling shot double tap from Joreuz got Dignitas the 2-1 series lead, it did nothing but fuel the anger of the cheese.

Throughout the duration of the next two games, Queso we’re relentless, with a Rise pass to Joyo tying up the series, before Vatira put the team on his back in the 5th, producing one of the great solo performances with all 4 goals in the 4-3 win, including a crazy redirect and top corner overtime finish.

With Dignitas having their backs against the wall, 2-3 down, they attempted to put a lock on their defence. But unfortunately for the veterans, there’s a new king in town, with a Vatira solo performance granting Queso the only goal they needed to ice the series 4-2, sending Dignitas home in 5th-6th, and all but securing their spot at the LA Major.
