Backed by one of Brazil’s most well known organizations, Furia have the capacity to become SAM’s next great team. They came into the season as heavy favourites after their 2nd place finish in Season X to True Neutral (now the NA based Complexity), and with the addition of yanxnz, Furia didn’t disappoint in Fall.
They won events 1 and 3 in strong fashion, and comfortably solidified the #1 seed. With high expectations after their regional excitement, Furia were solid on LAN, taking top 4 placing SMPR to 5 and conquering G2 en route to a 12th-14th finish.
So in Winter, when Furia not only lost in groups, but were eliminated in 7th-8th by Noble/Secret, their reign at the top seemed all but over. The exact same happened to Ground Zero, the kings of OCE, and they failed to make it to LA.
But Furia weren‘t done just yet. From that point onwards, the team rose, with yanxnz’s offensive dominance suffocating teams, caard holding the line in defence and CaioTG1 acting as the perfect playmaker to set Furia up for greatness.
And greatness they found. Furia would go on to win both regionals 2 and 3, conceding just two games in each playoff run to secure their ticket to LA. Under pressure, they were incredible, especially in the do or die match with eRa Eternity where CaioTG1 lifted the team to the win, and they ended the split seeming to be the region’s best, and prepped for LA.
However, even with CaioTG1 and caard’s experience on LAN in season 8, LA will be a whole different beast for rising star yanxnz. As his LAN debut, and with the pressure placed on his shoulders as the team’s offensive spear head, there is the potential that the moment could get to Furia’s superstar.
If they’re able to avoid the issues of nerves, which their experience in Stockholm and tightness as a team will be valuable for, then Furia could be a genuine outside chance. Aside from NRG, their groups matches with Endpoint and Renegades are both winnable, and if they’re able to find their feet early in the tournament, then they could be set to get a playoffs berth for SA
