Our first interviewee for the Sideswipe player interview series is Mage, the king of MENA Sideswipe. The champion of every tournament thus far within MENA, and a former 3-time grand finalist in Fortnite’s FNCS, Mage is one of the biggest rising stars of the Sideswipe competitive scene.

1. What initially got you into competitive Sideswipe?

I used to just play the game for fun until i got gc, but then when APL announced their tournaments I started playing competitive.

2. Do you prefer playing 1s or 2s?

I prefer playing 1s because people in 2s double commit a lot and I can't play the way I usually do. I also thinks it's because I'm better at solo modes in every games in general.

3. With your experience from competitive Fortnite, do you think that gives you the upper hand in your competition?

I don't think so, the only thing that gives me the upper hand in tournaments is playing under pressure, nothing else.

4. Would you consider yourself currently to be the best player in the world?

I consider myself to be at least top 3 in the world currently, along with Rayzoxs and Mikalva.

5. Are there any gameplay changes that you’d like to see within Sideswipe?

Yes definitely. In the future, I would like to see 3s, with more maps as well, because I think it would be fun and make a lot of people come back to the game.

6. Do you have any hobbies/passions outside of gaming?

I enjoy reading a bit of manga, manhwa, and learning a few words in foreign languages in my free time.

7. Finally, what would be some advice you’d give to players trying to rise up the ranks?

My advice is to not stall if you don't know how to do it properly because it will just cause you to lose. Instead, practice it in training until you master in and not in games, play slow, wait for opponents' mistakes, and don't go for unnecessarily fancy shots.
