Yesterday in North America saw yet another entertaining Rivals series, with a deserving player finally crowned champion.
Amir Gets The Last Laugh
Heading into the event as #3 seed, Amir was expected to top what appeared to be a relatively tame group. Yet all was not as it seemed, as Amir was stunned by PolarAce’s rising star, ExonicFactor, who quickly swept the week 1 champion, with Factor looking more alert, faster, and more creative than his experienced counterpart.
Fuming at the result, Amir knuckled down in losers bracket of playoffs, winning three comfortable matches to set up a rematch with Factor, where he turned the tables, as seen by his animated passion on stream, with Factor struggling to maintain any boost and ultimately being wiped off the pitch by a strong Amir, who ended the day in 3rd place.
Fisci25 Faces Early Exit
One of the original pioneers of the NA sideswipe scene, Fisci came into the event searching for redemption and looking to return to his alpha and pre-season form.
He cruised through to winners finals, and with a 2-1 lead over a frustrated, laggy Blossuhm, the match seemed all but over. But upon finishing stream, Blossuhm seemed a new man, clawing his way back into the series against an outpaced Fisci to clinch it 3-2.
There was still a chance at a playoffs berth through losers, but Fisci fell in a tight contest to Soardy, extinguishing any chance of making top 16. A tough result to swallow, but as NA’s first great player, be sure that Fisci will return, better than ever.
‘Uzi!‘ Disqualified From Tournament
It isn’t a good sideswipe tournament without a pinch of controversy. Throughout his run, Uzi was reported to have displayed high levels of toxicity, with claims even being made (yet still unconfirmed) of him bribing of round 1 opponent Howlgarret.
Regardless, he got through to winners finals, and despite appearing to win the series, his overwhelming toxicity and disrespect for his opponents caused the moderation team to make the decision to disqualify him, from both winners and losers.
Will definitely be interesting to see how this unfolds as it’s likely not the last we’ll hear from Uzi about the matter.
Alex And rayzoxss Duke It Out Again
There’s no doubt about it, Alex and Rayzoxss are the best players in NA. The two grand finalists last week, where Alex came from losers to win the event, this time it was rayzoxss’ chance to shine.
Both players cruised through their brackets with relative ease, before Alex got the upper hand in winners, calmly approaching his 50s and playing smart defensive to lock in a spot in grands with a 4-2 victory.
But after coming so close last week, rayzoxxs was hungry for more, and after finding his way back into grands, demolished Alex 4-1. He was back to his stalling, confident self, and his ability to find the corners of the net with his unbelievable gold shots quickly put the series beyond any doubt.
