Aslan Bang Victorious
After many Top 4 finishes, Aslan Bang breaks through and wins his first event, sweeping Control in the Grand Final.
Aslan Bang only lost 1 game throughout Pool play, sweeping Factor in the Pool Final. He dominated the Top 16 bracket, knocking off Rayzox in the Semi-Final with a match result of 3-1.
I am excited to see where Aslan Bang goes, especially with the Invitational next week!
Surprising Final Runner-Up
As mentioned earlier, Aslan Bang swept Control in the Grand Final. But who is Control? Let me answer that question.
Control is an upcoming player from the United States, who has missed out on the Top 16 in the past 2 events (Clash #5 and #6) achieving 17th in both.
Control’s pool included a fair amount of rising stars, including wizbabe69 and Axey (Though they both missed out on Top 16 in this event). Control beat pincyrl in the Pool Semi-Final 3-2, but everything went up from there. Control swept Axey 3-0 in the Pool Final giving him a Top 16 birth.
Control knocked off Alex and Fnord both with match results of 3-2. Then losing to Aslan Bang in the Winners Final. He then goes on to win a close match with Beeps with a match result of 4-3, giving him another shot at Aslan Bang.
He goes on to lose that series and places 2nd in this tournament. Amazing performance! But the question is, will it be enough for an Invitational invite?
Top Names Fall Short
With Aslan Bang taking the crown, and the surprise appearance of Control. They left no room for familiar names, Amir, Alex and Rayzox.
Amir survived a scare in the Pool play bracket. While Alex won his, but did not get much further. Amir and Alex both missed out on Top 8. Rayzox had to settle with Top 6, losing to Beeps in the Quarter Final.
These amazing players have all cemented there place in the Invitational bracket, which is scheduled for February 24th (1v1).
This was a very interesting tournament, certainly fun to watch. Now we all look ahead to the Invitational.
I’m excited for next week. Can’t wait to see who comes out on top.
When the bracket is set for 1v1, I will make a post with my Predictions.
