If you know anything about RLCS, then it’s a guarantee that you know of NRG and their star studded lineup.

A team comprised of GarrettG, aka Captain America, who has been a pillar of North American Rocket League since the early days and has attended every RLCS LAN, SquishyMuffinz, the mechanical genius who shaped the game we know and love today, and Jstn, one of the fastest, most consistent players to have ever touched the game. With all 3 members having won a world championship before, Squishy in the dominant C9 lower bracket run, and Garrett and Jstn in the poetic season 8, 4-3 grands win over Vitality, NRG came into the season off the back of a victory in the RLCS X North America Championship, and were highly ranked for the season to come.

And thus far this season, they’ve been able to back up their credentials. Regionally, they’ve made 5/6 finals, and sit comfortably on top of North America with a more than 400 point lead on FaZe in second. Internationally, they were equally as impressive as they survived the trials and tribulations of the swiss stage before securing two clinical wins over the dangerous Sandrock Gaming and inter-region rivals FaZe, before bowing out in 2nd place to BDS.

With Jstn’s ability to find crucial goals and reads out of nowhere, Garrett’s experience and ability to create midfield plays, and Squishy’s phenomenal work as third man, NRG truly is a sight to behold. They have the LAN experience to handle the crowds, having attended 19 RLCS LAN events as a team combined, unlike some of their less experienced high level counterparts like BDS, Queso and Sandrock. They will carry the weight of a region’s expectations upon their shoulders, but NRG have the ability to take out the whole thing if they can maintain a high level of consistency and confidence throughout the event.

As for their group, group B should be NRG’s for the taking. Although there certainly are no weak teams, there’s also no clear contenders in the group, and anything except a 3-0 would be a surprise, which should set NRG up for an upper bracket qualification, holding them in good stead for a high placing finish.
