After 7 weeks of duking it out in the weekly Wednesday night events, our top 8 2v2 teams in OCE have now been set. Following the same playoffs format as the AFL finals series, with top 4 teams receiving an extra life in round 1, here are our predictions for how the bracket will play out, with explanations of each result:

Scarth/Matro Vs Imagine Losing:
Imagine Losing may have taken down the Scarth/Matro duo in the week 6 semi final, but that shouldn’t change the outcome of this matchup too much. If anything, it will make Scarth and Matro more aware of their opponents, because despite leading head to head 2-1, Imagine Losing are a force to be reckoned with.
Yet when it all comes down to it, Matro’s mechanics and Scarth’s defensive prowess will simply be too much for Portal and Lobby, which should end a close, but reasonably straight forward win for the #1 seeds.
Underdogs Vs Gold Coast MelonChasers:
This will be the first matchup of these two teams in a playoffs situation, and the pair are incredibly evenly matched. Melon’s range of shooting capabilities will be dangerous for the Underdogs, paired with the wall of TeaRizz in defence, but Underdogs’ chemistry and rotations won’t make it an easy series.
Expect this one to go the length, but our pick is for the MelonChasers to edge out a tight game 5 victory to advance to top 6.
Sour S'mores Vs Les Renards:
Having made top 8 every single week except one, Les Renards have been the definition of consistency throughout the 7 weeks. Unfortunately for Foxxy and Frenchie, Sour S'mores are a different beast, and their defensive, calm play style won't be enough to stop Schmory's relentless offence, however, they have been planning for ways to nullify Schmory's impact and set up 1v1s with Sour in defence, which should be enough for them to at least salvage a game from the series.
Deathlikepeak87/OceaN Vs Semicircle:
This could shape up to be one of the more unbalanced matchups of the entire playoffs. Although Semicircle have held onto solid results in recent weeks, they've been completely outplayed by the high level teams, as was displayed in last week's quarter final demolition at the hands of Imagine Losing. Peak and Ocean's mechanics will just be far too much for Semicircle, especially with Hammertoes falling out of love with the game and not playing as much, which could see this match end in a 3-0 sweep.
Imagine Losing Vs Gold Coast MelonChasers:
Neither of these teams have anyone participating in the 1s championship playoffs, meaning the focus will be solely on the 2s competition, making for a fierce matchup overall. Although these two will be quite evenly matched, Imagine Losing have shown a greater ability recently to produce big wins when it mattered most, and are thus are choice to win a nail biting series.
Sour S'mores Vs Semicircle:
Similar story to their previous match, Semicircle certainly won't have an easy time against Sour S'mores. Hammertoes looked slow on defence last week, which could see some easy goals for Schmory, and Fin's simple offence will likely be easily nullified by both Sour and Schmory. Although the S'mores might have a game of over confidence, they should still be able to comfortably take the series home.
Scarth/Matro Vs Sour S'mores:
Arguably the biggest matchup of the tournament. Schmory and Scarth have played each other 5/7 weeks in 1s, and 4/7 weeks in 2s. Despite Schmory holding the overwhelming head to head advantage, this series feels different. The main issue for Sour S'mores here, is their lack of cohesion in comparison to Scarth and Matro. Both pairs have overwhelming amounts of experience in competition, with Scarth, Matro and Sour all accomplished Rocket League competitors, whilst Schmory is the 7-time 1s champion. No matter what happens, you can guarantee this series will go right down to the wire, but our prediction is to Scarth and Matro will have just enough in their bag of tricks to get across the line 3-2.
Imagine Losing Vs Deathlikepeak87/OceaN:
A rematch of the week 6 grand finals, and our expectation is for a larger similar result. After taking a game to get into the series, Peak and OceaN dominated Imagine Losing, taking the next 3 games. Having now grasped their opposition’s game style, this more duo should be able to combine their incredible mechanics and experience at the top to secure a win and grand finals spot.
Scarth/Matro Vs Deathlikepeak87/OceaN:
The #1 and 2 seeds throughout the competition, both lineups certainly deserve the title of best in OCE, but unfortunately, only one can have it. Even though Scarth/Matro have won the weeklies 3 times, compared to Deathlikepeak87/OceaN's 1, and took a 3-1 win in their only head to head matchup, Peak and OceaN have been in incredibly strong form lately. Despite this, Scarth and Matro's chemistry as long term team mates stemming from Rocket League, full focus on Sideswipe (having failed to qualify for the RLCS regional event), and greater experience under high pressure situations makes Scarth/Matro our pick for 2v2 Swipe Series champions.
