Coreto Comes Up Clutch
The first series was very entertaining, with some amazing shots and great saves. Coreto was represented by Team Mystic players. TOMA was one of the favorites, who won one of the weekly tournaments.
TOMA took Game 1, but Coreto bounced back and snagged Game 2. TOMA grabbed Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead.
Coreto has to make the comeback to stay in the upper bracket. They won a nail biting Game 4 that tied up the series. Game 5 went to OT where the ball was shot back and forth until Coreto finally broke through and scored to win the series with a series score of 3-2. Coreto moved on, and dropped TOMA to the lower bracket.
TOMA Sinks
The No. 2 Seed of the Invitational sunk to the bottom with a disappointing exit. After crushing the Group Stage, with a 3-0 record and went 9-0 in games.
They were looking great going into Day 2, but Coreto edged them out in a close series in the first round, dropping them to the lower bracket. But a surprising loss to Os noobs sem tag sent them home.
ONST Makes A Run
ONST (Os noobs dem Tag) got 2nd place in their group and barely squeaked by Aston Birra booking themselves a spot in Day 2.
They lost their first series 3-2 to Los Más Capos. But beat TOMA in the first round of the lower bracket, by a series sweep. Momentum built and they beat Los Más Capos when they got a second chance. In the Lower Bracket Semi-Finals, they beat Perdomo with a sweep.
But a Lower Bracket Final win over No. 1 Seed Homeless was the highlight of the day, knocking them out with a series score of 4-3.
That sent them to the Finals for a chance to take home the $3000 first place prize. They were off to a hot start beating Coreto in the first series 4-2 but eventually fell in the bracket reset 4-1.
A historic run that will be remembered, and an amazing work ethic to keep pushing even after their first round loss.
Homeless Cools Off
The heavy favorite going into Day 2 was off to a scorching start sweeping their round 1 series 3-0 against Blinders. The Semi-Finals brought a back and forth series against Perdemo, where Homeless eventually prevailed 3-2.
But Coreto cooked them off dominating them in a 4-1 series loss. They still had a shot at the Finals, but lost to ONST in the Lower Semi-Finals. A great tournament for this team. But they were knocked out early
compared to where they were expected to finish.
Team Mystic Prevails
Coreto and Los Más Capos, both teams with Team Mystic players won their first round matches. But having to play each other, knocked LMC (Los Más Capos) to the Lower Bracket.
But Coreto kept charging on to beat Homeless and ONST to win the tournament. Congratulations! This was a very entertaining tournament. We are all hopeful that more of these will come.
